KEY POINTS:
Egypt has sent a large quantity of arms to the forces of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party with the help of Israel, an Israeli official said.
Meanwhile, Haaretz reported that "a load of 2000 Kalashnikov AK47 assault rifles as well as 20,000 cartridge clips and two million bullets were transferred to Fatah's armed groups in the Gaza Strip, in co-ordination with the Israeli Army".
The paper said the arms had been transported by a convoy of four trucks from Egypt into Israel and had then been given to Palestinian Authority security services loyal to Abbas.
