CAIRO - Egyptian police hunting for bombers behind attacks in the Sinai peninsula killed three suspects today, security sources in Sinai said.
The police yesterday shot dead another three men they said belonged to a group of Sinai Bedouin who killed 18 people in bomb attacks on the Red Sea resort of Dahab last week.
The authorities identified one of those as the mastermind of the attacks. The police are searching for suspects in a mountainous area of northern Sinai.
Further details about the suspects killed today were not immediately available.
The government has blamed the mysterious group of Sinai Bedouin, which had its origins in the Mediterranean town of El Arish, for four other bombings at resorts on the Sinai coast and in northern Sinai over the past two years.
Two men blew themselves up last week in separate attacks on a multinational peace force and a police station in northern Sinai.
