Television presenter Gozde Kansu has been sacked for wearing a low-cut dress during a show. A spokesman for the ruling conservative Justice and Development (AKP) party allegedly described her outfit as "unacceptable", France24 reported. Kansu's dress came under fire by the party as she hosted the Veliaht TV programme.
AKP's Huseyin Celik said her outfit was "extreme", adding: "We don't intervene against anyone, but this is too much. It is unacceptable."
Producers initially denied Kansu was fired, claiming her busy schedule was preventing her working but later confirmed she had been dismissed. Celik said it was his right to express his opinion as an individual.
"I never named a show or a person," he wrote on Twitter.
"It was the media who alleged the names."
