Double tragedy: Woman dies hours after her boyfriend

The long-term girlfriend of a 29-year-old man who was run-over and killed in Scarborough on Saturday night has also found dead in non-suspicious circumstances just hours after she was told of her partner's death.

Jason Francis, 29, was hit by a white Volkswagen Jetta on Stanley Street about 8pm on Saturday. He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by paramedics but could not be saved.

Mr Francis' partner Alice Robinson was just metres away, waiting for him to return home, when he was struck.

It is understood she rushed outside after seeing the emergency lights but was told by police that her partner of eight years had been run-over, news.com.au reported.

Ms Robinson was found dead in Mount Hawthorn on Sunday afternoon, less than 24-hours after Mr Francis was killed.

Friends had become worried when they were unable to contact her after she left RPH on Saturday night when told Mr Francis had died.

The couple are from the UK and have no family in Perth. It is believed they moved to WA less than a year ago after travelling the world together.

Mr Francis, a talented sportsman, was a member of the Cottesloe Rugby Union Football Club.

Club president Sam Diamond posted on Facebook yesterday describing the couple as "two beautiful souls" who had been lost "far too early".

"Jase and Alice had only been at the club for a short time but had already ingrained themselves into the third grade and fourth grade families," he wrote.

"They could both be found at the multitude of offseason barbecues where Jase would always do his best impression of a competitive eater whilst Alice filled our hearts with her infectious laugh.

"These are two beautiful souls that we have lost far too early, and were loved like family. CRUFC extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Francis and Robinson families back in the UK. I hope that all club members and anyone else who knew Jase and Alice find a sympathetic shoulder to lean on in these sad times."

Shocked friends also expressed their grief on social media and offered condolences to both families.

Mr Francis' former club in the UK, Newport Salop Rugby Union Football Club, paid tribute to him on social media.

"Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Jason, or Franna as his mates called him, would all agree he was one of the most genuine and down to earth gentleman that you could ever wish to meet and nothing that his friends asked of him was ever too much," the club wrote.

Police say the 18-year-old pizza delivery driver who was behind the wheel of the Volkswagen might not have seen Mr Francis until it was too late. The teenager stopped at the scene and called police.

Stanley Street was blocked off on Saturday night as investigators examined where Mr Francis was struck.

The Volkswagen was also towed away for examination.

Major crash officers are investigating the incident and want to speak to anyone who saw the Volkswagen in the Scarborough area in the lead-up.
