An Australian DJ has been sacked after helping a friend win a A$10,000 ($12,820) on-air prize.
Nova Radio presenter Hans Bruechle was dismissed from the Perth station yesterday after a caller named Ashlea phoned the station on Wednesday claiming to have spent "all day" counting songs to correctly guess the 99th song and win the competition.
The DMG Radio Australia station released a recorded off-air phone conversation yesterday, during which Bruechle could be heard telling Ashlea which song to call in for just moments before she did.
Listeners became suspicious after the caller said she had been listening to the station all day, but then contradicted herself by saying she'd completed a university exam and spent the rest of the day at the beach.
