A dingo sanctuary for Queensland's Fraser Island is one of the ideas being considered to protect the animals.
The state government released the results of an independent review of its dingo management strategies on the island today.
Environment Minister Andrew Powell says the 240-page report recommends an immediate end to intimidating dingoes to scare them away from campsites, changes to tagging practices and check-ups on the dogs by vets.
Another option is setting up a permanent dingo sanctuary on the island.
"All of these are options I am very keen to investigate," Mr Powell said in a statement.
