Death toll in blast south of Baghdad nears 100

KERBALA, Iraq - The death toll from a suicide fuel truck blast south of Baghdad reached 98 with other wounded people in serious condition, a senior hospital official in the nearby provincial capital Hilla told Reuters.

The blast was the deadliest attack in Iraq since the government took power in April. The hospital official, who asked not to be named, said he had collected information from several hospitals in the area.
