Daredevils test vertigo-inducing Skyslide in Los Angeles

Thrill-seekers have tested a new outdoor glass slide in downtown Los Angeles ahead to its opening to the public.

A group of daredevils has been filmed riding the vertigo-inducing slide hovering 300 metres above an LA footpath.

The so-called "Skyslide", which connects the 69th story of the US Bank Tower to the OUE Skyspace LA observation deck, has been affixed in May and will open to the public on June 25.

The Skyslide is 13 metres long and made entirely with 13cm thick glass.

The attraction is being offered as part of a US$50 million (NZ$69.9 million) makeover given to the building by its owners, Singapore-based OUE Ltd, which bought it in 2013.

Those game enough to try the stunt will arrive at a newly fitted-out observation deck, whose panoramic views of the city below will provide an opportunity to reflect on the full dimensions of what they have just experienced.

Those requiring a little extra courage to partake, may find in the new bar being opened on the 70th floor of LA's tallest tower, which will be part of a new rooftop complex called OUE Skyspace LA. Prices start at US$33 for admission and access to the slide.

The observation deck will provide vistas spanning San Fernando Valley to Santa Catalina Island, the Los Angeles Times reported.
