COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) A former Euroskeptic has been tapped to become Denmark's new foreign minister after his predecessor stepped down for health reasons.
Two decades after campaigning against closer ties with the EU, Holger Nielsen has become more pro-European and for nearly 15 years was the leader of the Socialist People's Party, currently a junior partner in the Social Democrat-led government coalition.
Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt also said Thursday that she would nominate Karen Haekkerup as justice minister after the previous one resigned earlier this week for lying to Parliament.
The changes are not expected to weaken the center-left coalition that has been in power since 2011.
