Dad nearly kills toddler while trying to get rid of bedbugs

A three-year-old girl is fighting for her life in a New York hospital after eating rat poison her dad had put out in their home to try to get rid of bedbugs.

The New York Post reports the girl has been in intensive care since October 24 when she was admitted to hospital with vomiting and other flu-like symptoms.

According to police sources, the whole family, including both parents, suffered similar symptoms right after the rat poison was laid.

The dad reportedly told doctors he laid out rat poison to try to get rid of a bedbug infestation in their house.
