Crowe targeted by al Qaeda

Australian actor Russell Crowe (right) was the target of an al Qaeda kidnap plot and has had FBI protection, says the Daily Telegraph in Sydney.

The FBI warned the actor of the threat in 2001, the paper reported, citing a story in the March edition of GQ magazine.

Crowe was protected by the FBI on subsequent film shoots and industry functions such as the Golden Globe awards.
