Court told crash 'staged' to 'cover up' Jasmine White's murder

The Adelaide Magistrates Court has heard claims this crash in South Australia was staged to cover up a murder.

The white Holden Commodore was on its roof, the vehicle crushed by the impact with the ground as it rolled onto the side of the road.

Around the wreckage debris from the vehicle was strewn around. And inside was the body of 28-year-old mother Jasmine White.

White was found with "catastrophic injuries" after the September 27 crash - and now there has been a startling unsubstantiated claim by her new partner that White may have in fact been dead by the time of the devastating crash.

The person allegedly at the wheel at the time of the crash, on the outskirts of Kapunda, South Australia, was her former partner Adam James Cocks, 34.

The Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday heard allegations Cocks assaulted White and her new partner Matthew Lintern in the hours before the crash, reported The Advertiser.

But it was during a hearing where Cocks made an application for bail the murder allegation was made.

The court heard Lintern has alleged White, a mother-of-two, was killed before Cocks "staged" the crash to "cover up" his crimes.

Jasmine White, 28, was discovered at the crash scene.

Police are investigating the claims. No murder charges have been laid.

Cock's lawyer Nikki Conley said the statement Lintern made about the murder claims before the crash was "bizarre".

Magistrate Jayanthi McGrath said such descriptions were "not useful" given the investigation hadn't been completed.

"It cannot be ignored that less than 24 hours before, he has allegedly struck her with a metal bar and she's fallen to the ground," the magistrate said.

Prosecutors alleged Cocks hit White in the head while yelling he would "kill her" before striking Lintern, 22, in the side of his temple with a metal bar during the incident at White's Kapunda home.

Prosecutor Nick Wong alleged Cocks "ripped off" her front screen door at 6am on September 26 before subjecting the couple to an assault.

He is alleged to have grappled with Lintern who fled the home. He later saw Cocks and White leave the house.

The pair had separated after a relationship marred by allegations of domestic violence, said Wong, who opposed bail on behalf of the Crown.

When she didn't return home, Lintern called police and reported her missing.

The crash occurred just after midnight the following day. Cocks only received minor injuries, including a dislocated shoulder.

The car was "littered with drug paraphernalia", the court heard.

He has yet to plead to one aggravated count each of death by dangerous driving, serious criminal trespass, as well as two aggravated counts of assault.

He is also charged with driving under disqualification or suspension.

Lintern wrote on Facebook this week of his heartbreak over White's death.

"If there were visits to Heaven I would be first in line if it meant I got to see you one more time. I miss you more everyday continue to rest in paradise beautiful princess."
