SYDNEY - Police have arrested the parents of a young girl who allegedly starved to death in the NSW Lower Hunter almost two weeks ago.
Seven-year-old Shellay Ward weighed nine kilograms when her body was found in her home at Hawks Nest, north of Newcastle, on November 3.
Police said the 46-year-old man and 37-year-old woman were arrested at Port Kembla in the Lake Illawarra region at 7.45am (AEDT) today and taken to the local police station.
