A white police officer in Texas has been suspended after video emerged of him drawing a gun at a pool party and throwing a 14-year-old black girl in a bikini to the ground.
Corporal Eric Casebolt can be seen pulling the girl's hair and pinning her down for several minutes, shouting "On your face" as he shoves her head into the grass.
He also pulls his gun and points it at two black teenage boys before other officers intervene and the youngsters run away.
The officer also swears and appears to handcuff at random several black youngsters who protest that they had just arrived at the party.
The incident took place at a residential community in McKinney, 60km from Dallas.
A dozen police officers had responded to reports that teenagers not from the residential community, who therefore did not have permission to use the pool, had refused to leave.
In the seven-minute video, taken by a bystander and uploaded to YouTube, it appeared that white officers, including Casebolt, targeted only black teenagers in the mixed race group attending the party.
Brandon Brooks, who took the video, said: "A fight between a mother and a girl broke out and when the cops showed up everyone ran, including the people who didn't do anything.
"So the cops just started putting everyone on the ground and in handcuffs for no reason. This kind of force is uncalled for, especially on children and innocent bystanders."
The case comes amid growing unease across America over the use of violence by police officers, especially against black people.
Greg Conley, the city's police chief, told the Dallas Morning News: "A 14-year-old female was temporarily detained by one of the officers. She was ultimately released to her parents.
"Several concerns about the conduct of one of the officers at the scene have been raised."
