Convicted British MP quits

A British MP has resigned two days before he is due to be sentenced for dishonestly claiming parliamentary expenses.

Eric Illsley has pleaded guilty to dishonestly claiming about £14,000 ($29,000) in expense payments.

He had already been suspended by the Labour Party and was in Parliament as an independent.

He is due to be sentenced tomorrow.
