Connecticut hellcat spared by judge

A US state judge in Connecticut has spared the life of alleged serial-scratcher Lewis the cat but ordered that he remain inside his owner's home at all times.

Ruth Cisero, who had faced a charge of reckless endangerment, received a two-year suspended sentence.

Neighbours complained that her pet had attacked at least six people.
