BRISBANE - Controversial Australian businessman Peter Foster will launch a bid for freedom in the Queensland Supreme Court today.
Foster, 44, of the Gold Coast, has remained in custody since his arrest at Brisbane International Airport early last month on fraud-related charges.
Australian Federal Police swooped on the convicted conman just one day after his release from a Vanuatu jail for entering that country illegally.
He is accused of forging documents to fraudulently obtain what is believed to be more than A$200,000 from the Bank of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Foster was refused bail last month on the grounds he was an unacceptable flight risk.
A bail application last week was adjourned to allow new lawyer Terrence Fisher to prepare Foster's case.
