Condom shower for NSW town

An American sex shop will shower a NSW town with free condoms after hearing the local chemist refused to stock the contraceptive.

The only pharmacy in the small town of Merriwa, in the NSW Upper Hunter Valley, won't sell condoms.

A recent NSW health report found the Hunter and New England regions had one of the highest teenage birth rates in the state at 6 per cent.

New Jersey adult store Playtime Boutique heard the news and mailed a box of about 1000 condoms to the town's mayor.

A council spokesman said it was prepared to help distribute the prophylactics.
