The Sound Relief concerts in Melbourne and Sydney in aid of victims of Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires and the Queensland floods raised more than A$8 million ($10.1 million), smashing earlier estimates by A$3 million. Red Cross Australia chief Robert Tickner said the A$7.1 million raised for bushfire victims also pushed the Red Cross Victorian Bushfires Appeal fund past the A$310 million mark.
