Three people have appeared in a court in southern England charged with attempted drug smuggling after a total 1.6kg of cocaine was found surgically concealed inside two dogs.
The labradors arrived from Colombia at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam on September 28.
Dutch authorities found the drugs implanted under the skin of both animals and surgically removed them. One of the dogs died and the other is recovering.
British police arrested seven people near Stansted Airport north of London in connection with the incident.
They said the cocaine inside the dogs had an estimated value of £30,000 ($84,865).
