It's no joke - the Laugh Club International wants to make laughter part of the Olympic Games. And the International Olympic Committee is reportedly giving serious consideration to the idea.
The Asian Age newspaper said yesterday that the president of the Bombay-based club, Madan Kataria, had recommended that the opening ceremony of the Olympics should start with a two-minute laughing session, "besides including laughter as a game."
The positive effects of laughter on mental and physical health would be beneficial to the athletes, Kataria said.
Laughing clubs are a common phenomenon across India.
