A cloud bank hugging the flanks of Mt Hood frustrated the air search for two missing climbers yesterday, a day after their companion was found dead on a glacier on Oregon's highest mountain.
Rescuers had to bring in a helicopter and aircraft to search because new snow had created avalanche dangers for searchers on foot.
The three climbers - Luke Gullberg, 26, Anthony Vietti, 24, and Katie Nolan, 29 - had begun their ascent on Saturday but failed to return. On Sunday, crews found Gullberg's body.
