The claws are out over a Gold Coast beauty salon's poster campaign to help raise funds for an animal welfare group, News Ltd newspapers report.
Recreate Yourself Hair and Beauty Salon in Burleigh Heads sent out 30,000 posters featuring a model in seductive lingerie sitting in a chair with a cat between her legs as part of a promotion to support the Animal Welfare League. The salon will donate A$1 (NZ$1.30) to the league for each waxing service booked.
The Facebook launch of the campaign on Tuesday, though, caused a stir, with more than 80 comments in the first few hours, many of them upset by the provocative nature of the poster.
Website News.com.au reported that Leesa Hodgson was "totally amazed the AWL would stoop to this level to raise money".
But by yesterday the positive comments seemed to far outweigh the negative, and included one offer to adopt the cat in the poster.
