A woman attending a Mass in honour of the local patron saint of a Sardinian village died when a crucifix fell on her.
The 38-year-old was with her two children, aged 9 and 18 months, to celebrate the feast of San Lorenzo, patron saint of Mogorella.
The woman was following the packed service from the steps outside when part of the cornice and a crucifix tore from the facade and fell on her, killing her instantly. No one else was hurt.
