A magnitude 4 earthquake has struck Christchurch this afternoon, GNS Science reports.
The quake hit at 12.10pm, and was centred 10km east of Christchurhc, at the mouth of the Avon River, at a depth of 10km.
GNS Science received a report it was "slightly damaging" in St Albans, and it was strongly felt in Addington, Bromley, Burwood, Hornby, Linwood, Mairehau and Riccarton.
