A lawyer says the son of a senior police official in northern China has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting his role in a deadly hit-and-run while drink-driving. Hu Yihua says 23-year-old Li Qiming will also have to pay US$69,900 ($90,391) in compensation to the victim's family.
Reports had emerged saying that Li tried to leave the scene of the accident and told the crowd that tried to stop him: "Go ahead, sue me. My father is Li Gang!" Li Gang is the deputy police chief of Baoding city.
