Only one of the 140 Chinese guests invited to this year's Nobel Peace Prize ceremony has confirmed he will attend, as Beijing continues to hold scores of activists under house arrest.
China remains furious at the award of this year's Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo, the co-author of Charter 08, a petition for political reform.
Liu has been in detention for almost two years now, and his wife, Liu Xia, has been under house arrest and banned from outside contact since the prize was announced last month.
Liu drew up a list of around 140 Chinese guests she said she would like to attend the ceremony in Oslo on the couple's behalf, but most have reportedly been placed under house arrest or surveillance.
