Child torturers jailed

FLORIDA - A couple were sentenced to 15 years each in prison for torturing and starving five of their seven adopted children, including yanking out their toenails with pliers.

John and Linda Dollar pleaded no contest to five counts of aggravated abuse of the children, who were so severely underfed that twin 14-year-old brothers weighed just 16kg and 17kg each - 36kg below normal.

The couple also tortured the children with an electric cattle prod and bondage equipment.
