A clone of a champion horse has been born in Italy, it has been announced.
The foal named Pieraz-Cryozootech-Stallion was born in Cremona on February 25, according to genetic engineering laboratories Cryozootech of France and Italy's LTR-CIZ.
He is the clone of 1994 and 1996 world endurance champion Pieraz, owned by US horsewoman Valerie Kanavy. The foal will be used exclusively for breeding purposes.
Cryozootech has a bank of genes from more than 30 exceptional horses.
