The Star casino has a report that suggests it could boost revenues by targeting Sydney's low income gamblers.
The 24-page report, Electronic Gaming Machines, Planning for 2011, puts punters into categories based on income and heritage, the Sun-Herald newspaper reports.
The groups include "bilingual backgrounds", "new wave" and "eclectic origins".
"While incomes are low, they aspire to live beyond their mean," the report says.
"Gambling incidence is high, as it offers the possibility of financing their aspirations."
But the casino says the report was prepared by an independent market research company and did not represent the opinion of The Star.
"We are a high-end entertainment destination and have no interest at all in targeting low-income groups to gamble beyond their means," a spokesman for The Star told the newspaper.
The casino runs the Star Express, a network of "chauffeured coaches" which depart from various suburbs across Sydney, picking up patrons as early as 7.30am and leaving the Star as late as 1am, its website states.
Destinations include Bankstown, Carlingford, Cabramatta and Hurstville.
