The Westminster Abbey verger caught on camera cart-wheeling down the nave following the Royal Wedding reportedly has a New Zealand connection.
The post-wedding stunt has become an internet sensation, but Westminster Abbey staff were less than pleased with the verger's antics.
Sources at the Abbey told the Daily Mail the man was feeling "fairly chastened", and although he is unlikely to face any formal disciplinary action, Abbey staff have warned him not to speak about the incident publicly.
While the Abbey will not identify the man, British media report he is Ben Sheward, who lives in South London.
The Mail reports the man studied music in New Zealand and is an expert on the composer Edward Elgar.
In the footage, captured by ITV, Mr Sheppard waits for the around 1,900 guests to leave the Abbey before embarking on two cartwheels down the red carpet.
A verger assists in the ordering of religious services, such as leading processions and helping to plan the logistical details of services.
One Abbey worker who the Mail described the verger's stunt as "It was lovely, just lovely".
"It reflected the joy we were all feeling at that point. But he really isn't looking to become a media star - he isn't that kind of guy.'
