VANCOUVER, British Columbia - A medical team in Vancouver operated on Wednesday to deliver twin babies who are joined together at the head, local media reported.
The doctors at the BC Children's Hospital performed a caesarean section, but the condition of the twin girls, already named Krista and Tatiana, was not immediately known.
A hospital spokesman declined comment, saying they were awaiting permission from the family before issuing a statement.
Doctors determined in July that Felicia Simms, 21, of Vernon, British Columbia, was carrying conjoined twins that appear to share at least two lobes of their brain.
Officials have said they must assure that the twins are healthy before deciding if it will be possible to perform surgery to separate them.
