Australian conservative senator Cory Bernardi has called for the country's Federal Parliament to be suspended following the citizenship scandal that involves a number of MPs.
A constituional crisis has erupted in Australia after it was found that a list of MPs, including Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce, hold or held dual citizenship.
According to Bernardi, people have lost faith in the Parliament following the scandal.
"I believe there is only one way forward for this Parliament and that is for the Prime Minister to prorogue the Parliament, [and] effectively end this session pending the outcome of the High Court, pending any by-elections that may be necessary," he told reporters in Canberra.
Larissa Waters and Scott Ludlam, from the Green Party, have both resigned after they were found to hold dual citizenship. Liberal Matt Canavan also resigned last month, after it was revealed he was also an Italian citizen.
