US President George Bush had a busy day on the campaign trail yesterday as he tried to shore up his party's vote ahead of November's mid-term elections.
With the Demoncrats well ahead in the polls and Bush's Iraq policy under pressure, the Republican Party is fighting to hold on to seats in both the House of Representatives and Senate.
His day's campaigning included:
* picking out a Halloween pumpkin at a roadside stall in Richmond, Virginia
* eating a cone of pralines and cream flavoured Ice Cream at Manning's Ice Cream store in Clark's Summit, Pennsylvania
* adressing a rally with Pennsylvania congressman Don Sherwood
