A popular tourist attraction has been closed and a number of homes are under threat from a bushfire in the NSW Blue Mountains.
More than a dozen crews from the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW are battling the blaze near Katoomba St and Cliff Drive in Katoomba.
The popular Scenic Skyway had been stopped as a precaution, Superintendent Tom Cooper told Fairfax Radio Network yesterday.
"The flame height is very high and apparently that's been impinging on the cables for that piece of machinery."
Several homes and Katoomba High School have been evacuated, Rural Fire Service spokeswoman Caroline Rembridge said.
