United States President George W. Bush ended his five-nation tour of Africa in Nigeria, pledging support for peace-making efforts and the war on Aids.
But at a meeting with Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo, Bush made no promise to send US troops to support a west African peacekeeping force in Liberia.
Instead, he vowed that the US would continue to support Africa's own efforts to bring to an end its civil wars.
