KEY POINTS:
Britons are more averse to receiving migrants than residents in four other major European countries, a Financial Times survey shows.
Some 47 per cent of Britons believe migrant workers within the EU are a negative for the country's economy compared with 24 per cent of Spaniards. About 76 per cent of Britons want tighter border controls and 66 per cent believe there are "too many foreigners" in Britain, both of which were higher than their counterparts in Spain, France, Germany and Italy.
