A British nurse was kidnapped in one of the most volatile areas of Pakistan yesterday when he was seized by gunmen after leaving a local hospital.
Khalil Dale, 60, a veteran aid worker from Dumfries and Galloway who served as health programme manager for the International Committee of the Red Cross, was abducted in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province in south-western Pakistan.
The ICRC said that there was "no indication as to the abductors' identities or motives".
