A quarter of all British children given weird and wonderful names by their parents said it was the main reason they were bullied at school. One in five chose a nickname to get away from their unusual name, while 11 per cent saw it as an embarrassment for life.
The study, from baby information marketing firm Bounty, showed how parents are choosing increasingly wacky names to make their children stand out.
Names such as Fire-Lily and Paprica were picked because parents believe a different name suggests innovation and creativity. They included Caramel, Levi, Tiger and Bambi for girls, and Moet, Rivers and Rocky for boys. One girl was called Tame, which stands for The Apple of My Eye.
