A Briton who claims to have been tortured in the United Arab Emirates says he has fresh evidence showing British security services were involved.
Alam Ghafoor claimed he was dragged out of a restaurant during a business trip to Dubai with his business partner, detained and tortured after the London bombings in July 2005, the Guardian reported.
Ghafoor claimed he was deprived of sleep, subjected to stress positions and told he would be killed and fed to dogs. The Huddersfield man said he was shown a photograph and told that he resembled one of the London suicide bombers.
The Guardian said Ghafoor had obtained copies of emails showing that British consular officials asked for permission from Britain's security services, not from officials in the UAE, to visit him while in detention.
The Foreign Office said neither Ghafoor nor his business partner were detained at Britain's request.
