Nearly a quarter of west Germans and 12 per cent of easterners want the Berlin Wall back - 15 years after they tore it down.
The animosity towards reunification has been driven by economic turmoil in the east and a fall in the standard of living in the west after the end of the Cold War, according to a poll by Berlin's Free University and Forsa.
In Berlin, 11 per cent of westerners and 8 per cent of easterners said "yes" when asked: "Would it be better if the Wall were still standing?".
