A Scottish woman is fighting for her life after being slashed in an attack after she called off her wedding.
Lisa Whyte, 32, of Slamannan in Stirlingshire, had been due to get married on Saturday.
She is in a serious condition in hospital after being flown to Glasgow.
The BBC reported that her 37-year-old fiance Steven McKee had been picked up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and charged with attempted murder. He is to appear at Falkirk Sheriff Court today.
The Scottish Daily Record reported that Whyte, a mother-of-two, had been stabbed in the throat in her home.
Neighbours said the pair had argued before the planned wedding at the Falkirk Registry Office.
Friends told the Record that her decision to call off the wedding came after a disturbance at her hen do over a week ago. A neighbour said: "Yesterday was supposed to be the happiest day of Lisa's life, but instead this terrible thing happened."
