Sixteen people were killed late last night (NZT) when a plane crashed in Brazil.
The air force said the twin-engine aircraft belonging to Noar Airlines took off from the city of Recife and immediately reported problems.
It tried to make an emergency landing in a vacant lot near a beach on the outskirts of the city centre but crashed and burst into flames.
