The thieves simply walked into a waterfront mansion on the Gold Coast through the unlocked front door, helped themselves to a fortune in jewels, picked up the keys to the Bentley and drove off.
The Gold Coast owners, who were at home but in a different part of the
house, had no idea they had been robbed on Monday night until they noticed their two-door Bentley Continental sports car, worth A$250,000 ($337,000), was no longer in the garage.
The car, with personalised plates "MONKY", was seen on CCTV footage leaving the exclusive gated community at Hope Island, cruising through a nearby roundabout and driving sedately away.
The car was found in Nerang, another Gold Coast suburb, in good condition but there is still no sign of the stolen jewellery.
