BRISBANE - An 11-year-old boy was one of two youths to appear in a court yesterday over the bashing of an off-duty police officer and his girlfriend on the Gold Coast.
About 20 youths kicked and punched the 27-year-old officer and his 26-year-old girlfriend while they were walking in Coolangatta, about 12.45am local time on Saturday, police said.
The unarmed officer was allegedly beaten to the ground, his head stomped on and his wallet stolen. His girlfriend also was hurt.
The couple were treated for concussion, factures, cuts and bruising.
After the bashing their attackers were caught on security video congratulating each other.
