Border job done, 130 years late

More than 130 years late, the governors of Victoria and New South Wales shook hands and signed off on their states' final, declared boundaries at Delegate to proclaim the border between the Murray River and Cape Howe.

A long-forgotten dispute between the attorneys-general of the colonies meant that while the border was drawn on maps and marked by signs on the roads that crossed it, a draft 1877 proclamation was never signed.

The oversight was discovered recently by the NSW Government.
