MELBOURNE - Australian Federal Police are investigating a security scare on a Singapore Airlines flight to Melbourne.
A Singapore Airlines media spokeswoman said the airline received a bomb hoax call in relation to flight SQ 227 from Singapore to Melbourne just before 1am (AEST) on Thursday (AEST).
She said the crew informed the 197 passengers of the threat and conducted a "discreet search" of the plane and did not find anything.
"We investigated it (the hoax), felt that the threat was not there, however we took every precaution to make sure the flight was safe and crew and passengers were all safe. Once we decided it was ... we continued and landed in Melbourne safely," she said.
She said the plane landed at Melbourne Airport just after 6am (AEST)
AFP officers met the plane on arrival and are investigating.
