Bomb from US plane kills 12 Afghan police

SHARANA, Afghanistan - A bomb dropped by a US warplane in southeastern Aghanistan killed 12 border police and wounded two more, the provincial governor said today.

The incident happened near the Pakistan border in Paktika province, governor Akram Ekhpul Wak told Reuters.

The US military could not be immediately contacted for comment.

The US military is in charge of security operations in Paktika and is the only force operating bombers there.
