A man has died trying to rescue a neighbour's pet cockatoo from a tree.
The 58-year-old man plunged to his death from a 20-metre-high tree near Bendigo in Victoria after the cockatoo's 72-year-old owner had also fallen, suffering suspected spinal injuries.
The cockatoo has still not been found.
