Bike stolen after pedalling across world for 44 years

A German who set out on his bicycle in 1962 to pedal across every country in the world has had it stolen hours after arriving in Britain.

Heinz Stucke, 66, who has covered 540,000km, had used the same machine for 44 years and had visited some of the most impoverished nations without anyone stealing it.

But a short while after pushing it off the ferry at Portsmouth it vanished.
